help and advice

We want your experience of buying and selling through Toyround to be as enjoyable and profitable as possible. Here is some help and advice to make things run smoothly.

Classified ads have been a tried and tested local trading platform for decades and you're unlikely to experience any difficulties. But to have a better chance of avoiding any problems, be cautious with people you've never met before, use your common sense and follow these general safety guidelines:

  • Always arrange a face-to-face meeting so that you can inspect the item before paying for it
  • Arrange to have a friend with you at the face-to-face meeing when either buying or selling
  • Only let buyers or sellers into your home if you feel comfortable doing so
  • Do not send money or give your banking details to buyers or sellers over the internet
  • We recommend that you have cleared funds before parting with any item you are selling
  • Before parting with your cash, always inspect the item you want to buy thoroughly to ensure you are satisfied.
  • Remember to ask the seller for a receipt or proof of purchase that includes their full contact details.
  • Always ask the seller to provide instruction manuals where appropriate.
  • When describing the item you want to sell, try to be as accurate and detailed as possible. Think about what you have written to check that it is not misleading in any way.
  • If possible upload a clear photo of the item you are selling. Pictures on a white background work best.
  • Where possible provide instruction manuals to accompany items you are selling.
  • For maximum exposure, create a separate ad for each product, service or event you want to promote. Eg: if you run a toy shop create an ad for the shop and individual ads for each type of toy you want sell. This works particularly well for special offers.
  • Always provide the buyer with a receipt for the goods.
